CONTINENTE is a non-profit organization located in Buenos Aires city wich main goal is to spread and promote the Argentine and Latin American independent audiovisual production. Our interest is focus on those works with an experimental trend so much in the technical aspect like the formal one, in all kind of supports and genres whenever they present a different glance from audiovisual language stereotypes.

CONTINENTE has as first goal to get to be the motor for the diffusion of Argentine video worldwide and the International video in Argentina, and also supporting and giving an ample place to works produced in the rest of Latin America. Continent sets out in the first place to undertake a research on the national and regional production which result will be an archive/video library that will serve to the organization in order to become a centre reffering on the history and present of the situation of visual arts.

The first activity of CONTINENTE will be to develop thematic exhibitions. These will be formed by videos from Argentina video artists and will be published on DVD. The intention is to propose their exhibition in specialized places – museums, art galleries, cultural centres – as well as in festivals and international events dedicated to electronic and audiovisual arts.
The idea of producing compiled videos in DVD is based on the importance that has a physical existence for these exhibitions, since this would allow that once exhibited they can happen to comprise of archives, video libraries, centers of consultation, public collections.
Simultaneously, they will make the interchange with other similar organizations located in different pints of the planet, making to us to be particularly interested on the creation of a solid network with similar organizations in Latin America. On this way, a new channel will be developed that the public and the Argentine artists have access to present international productions.
